Yeah, it would have made sense to go to RCA, IF they wanted hundreds of thousands of tubes. I suspect it was easier to deal with Richardson than RCA. Manufacturers have a
tendency to steer you to an authorized distributor instead of dealing direct. Makes it much easier for them.
