VECTOR: machined pin sockets

machined pin sockets contain a cylindrical spring-sleeve.
(check with a magnifying glass)

they produce a good contact on all surfaces of the i.c. pin.

another good use for them is to repair those ceramic packages with side-brazed pins when you remove them from 20year old sockets and some pins fall off!

clean the pins on the i.c. including the remaining stubs, plug it in to a turned-pin socket and solder the stubs to the top of the socket-tubes.

now you have a 'module' that can be pluged into another machined-pin socket on the gameboard.
(and you dont have to buy another i.c. or bodge the pcb)
