The old ones fit in like a socket. If you can do that, it's ideal.
The new one is bigger though, and usually people solder in it. You will
need some sort of high-voltage insultation -- something that has a
dielectric strength that can handle the 10k+ volts. Normal electrical tape
can handle around 300v, and the HV will burn through it.
I got some high voltage split tubing from a local repair shop. I've also
used the old sockets as insultation.
