if you have a scope then check the outputs from the optosensors,
also check the led's for the correct voltage.
IF you remove the led's then you can check them like this:
connect them to 5v with a 330 ohm resister,
and look at them with a camcorder/digital camera.
ccd camera heads can 'see' infra-red, very handy thing to remember!!!!
